Description
Licorice Black Tea
Caffeine Level: Medium / Antioxidant Level: High
This blend, made with natural licorice root pieces perfectly captures the subtleties of freshly processed licorice. An exceptionally smooth drinking tea.
Licorice, derived from the licorice root, has been consumed for millennia. The root was particularly prized in ancient Greece, China and Egypt for its restorative qualities. These ancient cultures believed that the licorice root was an effective ingredient in making cough syrups, and tonics.
For most people in the modern world however, licorice is simply a delicious confection that hints of sweet anise. Luckily it also compliments this high grown Ceylon beautifully.
Ingredients: Black tea, Licorice root pieces, Anise, Mallow + Safflower petals, Natural flavors
GRADE(S): OP (Orange Pekoe)
Alisha –
This tea didn’t have as strong a licorice flavour as I had hoped. If you are looking for a strong licorice flavour, try the Dutch Licorice Rooibos. This one is delicious with a little aniseed liqueur though.
